Child Development Center of St. Joseph

Quality Education for Your Child

The Child Development Center of St. Joseph has a vision of being a premier educational program for children and families. We recognize that the road to excellence never ends. You are always on a pathway of continuous improvement. We strive to be excellent by being a learning organization. As we read new research and learn new skills, our goal is to be in the fore front of implementing what we have learned.

We are proud to announce that we have successfully implemented Smart Board Technology into our Preschool and Kindergarten programs. Staff utilizes the Smart Boards to facilitate whole group and small group instruction. Children also interact with the Smart Board during literacy centers. The old days of making folder games by hand are gone. Staff teaches skills like letter writing and one to one correspondence through interactive technology.

A kindergartner uses the Smart Boards to find rhyming words in a poem.

We are proud of recognition that we have achieved for our standards of education excellence.  We aim to be the best in early education and work hard to meet the standards of quality demanded by independent review boards.

Since 2004, we have been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This designation assures parents that the educational program exposes their child to the best practices in early childhood development. To keep this high rating, we meet high standards of teacher qualifications and teacher to student ratios published by NAEYC appropriate for the age group of children served. Teachers with children under the age of two are in a ratio of 1:4. Preschoolers are typically within a group of one teacher for every eight children.

State of Wisconsin

In 2009, we were one of two schools, out of 57 applicants, approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction as an authorized parental choice program.  This status was reaffirmed in our first year review and we were approved to expand our kindergarten program to three classes beginning September 2010.

North Central Association

Our application for full accreditation as an elementary school is underway with the North Central Association to guide our drive toward excellence.
